Terms of Service
Last updated April 2026
Who runs this
Pain in the App is an independent product built and operated by a solo developer based in Iceland. By using the service you agree to these terms.
What the service is
Pain in the App is a personal symptom tracking tool. It is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for professional medical advice. Do not use it to make clinical decisions.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your email address current. Access requires a one-time code sent to your email — if you lose access to that email address, we cannot recover your account.
Your data
Your health data belongs to you. We do not sell it, share it, or use it for any purpose other than providing the service. You can export or delete all your data at any time from Settings. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access another user's data
- Reverse-engineer or abuse the API
- Create accounts in an automated or bulk fashion
Subscriptions and billing
Premium subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via Stripe. You can cancel at any time from Settings — access continues until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial periods, but we will consider reasonable requests on a case-by-case basis.
Availability
We aim for high availability but make no uptime guarantees. The service is provided as-is. We are not liable for any loss of data or access resulting from outages, bugs, or discontinuation of the service.
If the service is ever shut down, we will give at least 30 days' notice and provide a data export.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we will update the date above and notify active users by email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
